adding programs with red hat 8.0

Hey, I just got my Red Hat GUI up and going thanks to some help here recently. However, I am unsure on how to go about installing programs with this OS. When I did my research I found that Red Hat uses RPMs to do this but that's where I am stuck.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks...

also I was wondering if it is possile to get xstartup to run automatically when I boot Red Hat instead of having to type 'init 5' everytime at the command pane.

for the x-windows at boot question, change /etc/inittab to "id:5:initdefault:" from "id:3:initdefault:"

I think you might prefer to use a package manager like "apt" under redhat, so you don't have to manually install rpms, though installing rpms is really easy. (see man rpm for details). There are other package management apps for redhat, do some searching for them....they really make life easy for newer users.
