Wine- How to install and use

Relatively new Linux user. Catching up somewhat with command line features, but I'm not comfortable at all.

I've downloaded Wine, installed it with the package manager, but I can't find it nor use it.

What distribution ?
The wine server gui config is usually under system tools.
If you have an .exe file just try double clicking it. The OS takes care of sending it to wine.
You will find your wine "C drive" files in your home directory, if you select to show hidden files.

I've found the files, finally, I think. I need to know the executable to start Wine and the procedure to do it. Unfortunately, I'd installed it in MEPIS, on another partition, and I don't know whether I can run it from there or not?

Will I have to install the package in each Linux partition to run it with the program?

A verbose procedure would be immensely appreciated.

You probably should install the wine pet package for Puppy.
With ROX displaying the root directory, left-click on the eye to show hidden files and directories.
You should see a directory called .wine and in it will be drive_c
To run an exe file from a terminal, just type "wine [name of exe file].
You also should have some entries in the menu for it after installing the Pet package.

Thanks for your help. I'm now running Poker Stars on Puppy and Mepis. Your suggestions made it possible.
