USB Sound Card Cannot be Selected in Wine

Deadbeef on my Dell Inspiron 4200 + Puppy Lupu 5.2.8 plays music fine through either the internal sound card or a (higher quality) USB external sound card, but when I run Spotify 0.8 under Wine 1.3.13-lucid52 it will only play through the internal sound card, even though I've selected ALSA in Wine Config>Audio and Alsamixer has the USB sound card set as default. Only the internal sound card shows in the tree under ALSA in Wine Config>Audio.
Any ideas?
Brian

I'd guess that it's because USB support in WINE is still pretty primitive.
