Update and create file if not present

Is there a switch that will create the file if it is not present?

Code:
zip -u bashrc.zip .bashrc

Create which file? The zip or the .bashrc file?

Refer to the man page which says:
Quote:
update (-u)
Update existing entries if newer on the file system and add new files. If the archive does not exist issue warning then create new archive
