remove seamonkey ?
The Mozilla instructions for updating seamonkey 1.0 to 1.0.3 state:You should remove prior versions before installing 1.0.3
I tried the pupget tool and could not find a way to remove the package (its not listed in the menus, but is in the package.txt) I simply went to the root/packages/seamonkey dir and deleted everything. Needless to say that caused an uproar. Well, I rebooted and everything seems ok. But, when I use the pupget tool to install 1.0.3 (its in the /seamonkey1.0.3 dir as a tar.gz)it again get confused. Can someone please provide 'simple' instructions. I have googled and forumed til I can't see the screen. Thanks rockets |
Adding/removing packages...
Unfortunately, there is NO simple way to add/remove packages that are part of the ISO on your CD short of doing a total remaster of the ISO. That is why many of us use Barebones Puppy as a base and add needed stuff from the Pupget and Dotpup repositories. That way you avoid all the bloat of packages that you don't need or want and gain the ability to add/remove/try stuff easily. Recomend that you give 2.01r2 Barebones a try. Good luck - hope this helps.:jawa:

There is a program called pupbegon that will do that. Unfortunately the main forum appears to be having difficulties, so I can't provide a link to is yet.

Pup be Gone
This script is another of those that aid in the remastering process - it works or so I'm told but you will still end up making a new ISO image and burning it to CD. Not quite as easy as the add/remove programs routine in Windows. That is one of the best reasons to start with something like Barebones or John Murga's Mean Puppy - they are already have the stuff like Seamonkey removed and you can add only what you need or want.
