No sound

I get no sound when playing a movie.

Play test sound works in SoundWizard.

Volume levels look o.k. in alsamixer and retrovol.

What can I check next ?

Try different players.

In vlc try setting different output modules (and restart vlc befere playing with new module)

I select the correct audio device and it has sound.

But when I restart VLC, I have re-select the audio device.

I thought audio modules in preferencies (like alsa, pulesaudio...)
