hi.
i have installed puppy slacko 5.7 from my usb boot. I am now writting this reply from there.

the thing is, when i reboot the system, it starts in windows.. and have not option to starts it from linux. Unless i choose start it from the usb (in boot).

how can i starts puppy slacko 5.7 OS when i boot the laptop?

if it doesn't show up in your boot loader you could maybe try to ad it using easybcd..

Did you install GRUB during the installation?

no.. grub didn't appear during the installation.

in order to dual boot you need a boot loader..

That's odd it should have gave the option unless you only created a "savefile" and not installed, could try Super-GRUB-Rescue.iso? Normaly for me atlest with Fatdog64 (a Puppy vareant) I have to manualy edit GRUB to get it to show...

what shall i do with it once is downloaded it? sorry for my ignorance.. i am zero into computers.. :S

Do you have a link from where you are downloading that from also what make-and-model computer (is 64-bit right?) You will need to burn the .iso file to a disk or USB with a burning software something like: http://www.isotousb.com/

then boot to the Linux medium and follow it's installation instructions you may want to read up on the basics of installing Linux first or if that .iso has specific documentation on their website e.g: http://www.reallylinux.com/docs/install.shtml
or better: http://www.control-escape.com/linux/lx-install.html
plus it you have a google capable phone or another computer you can search the steps as they go... check out the second link in my signature as well.

I would suggest trying out some live major distros as well or even installing in Virtualbox for practice and being able to find help if that second device is not an option.

i am installing it to a friend´s computer as a favor,and also to learn how to install it; he use to use linux before..

What lead you to that link you normally only want to download from a reputable distros site i.e: http://distrowatch.com/ and such.

this message is what leaded me to that link. I choose one of the option from the site to download the file..
