"Insufficient space!" during initial shutdown/save w/ XenialPup64 on ThinkPad x200

First post! Hope my look through the stickies and the faq and a forum search didn't somehow miss someone else answering this issue.

Trying to get started with Puppy on my ThinkPad x200, but even though I'm using a 16GB usb drive (no HD install, just usb!), when I go to shut down and save for the first time, I get a message as soon as it starts copying the sfs file that there is "Insufficient space! Cannot copy [name-of-file].sfs."

Really looking forward to figuring this out and getting my Puppy Journey started!

What is the output of the disk-free command on the Puppy partition:

Code:

df -h  <---h for "human readable" output
Oh, and welcome to LQ.

Hi, abbreviatedman. Welcome to LQ, and to the Puppy sub-forum.

For now, just a couple of questions.

a) Is this a 'frugal' install, or have you done a 'full' install? (I'm guessing, from the console message, that it's a 'frugal'.....but confirmation would help.)

b) What are your basic specs; CPU, amount of RAM, make & model of HDD/SSD, graphics card/chip, etc? (that kinda thing). For Puppy, y'see, the amount of RAM is critical, due to Pup's unique method of operation in 'frugal' mode.

(It's always a good idea to post basic specs along with an initial query; forum members looking to help shouldn't really have to conduct web-searches just to find out what your hardware is, before being able to help.

It's a lesson I myself learned many years ago....just makes it easier all round, for everybody.)

Mike. ;)
