Installing to USB HDD

I'm new to puppy and have been running it from a USB flash drive. I recently brought a USB HDD (120gb) though and wanted to install puppy to that. I tried from within the live CD using thing universal installer but i still can't boot from the hdd.

Also i'm having troubles connecting to the internet via an ethernet conncection through on the motherboard.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Check first your BIOS! You must have "USB-HDD" bios support.
