I want AbiWord to 'Save As' to other locations and desktop. How?

I am a real Newbie to Puppy and to Linux in general. (I am very competent in Windows and less so in Mac OS X.) I want AbiWord to 'Save As' to other locations (other partitions and hard drives) and to the desktop. Now AbiWord is only letting me save to my Puppy boot (ext3) partition and that is bad because it is filling up fast. (I have a silly workaround by saving to the root and then moving or copying the file icon elsewhere. That is a pain in the neck!) I am booting from a USB flash drive into Puppy 5.2.5 on several PCs. I have extra space on the USB in a second Fat16 partition and on the NTFS partitions in the PCs.

When you "save as" use the option to "Browse for other folder" and navigate the directory tree to where you want.

The default is to offer that location next save as a standard option.

The "Save as..." location has to be mounted, before you can save there.

So just make sure you have mounted the partition you want to save to. Mounting an partition is done by clicking on the partition icon bottom left of your desktop.

There is an easy way to standardize this at startup, but you'd have to modify /etc/fstab with an entry like this
Quote:

/dev/sda2 /mnt/sda2 auto
and /etc/rc.d/rc.local with this
Quote:

mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda2 /mnt/sda2
