how do i give puppy linux 2.16 access to the internet wirelessly
 

its a linux distro shouldn't it already have the drivers for it

i have been running several different os on this system and puppy 2.16 is the only one that works flawlessly i just need it to be connected to the internet but i havent figured out a way to make it work maybe you can

usually works very well with old hardware and has all modern programs and drivers.

This I know, because I have tried it.

Some Linux distros may have the particular drivers you need for your particular hardware and some may not.

What system would that be?

You’ll have to do that (figure it out).

Wireless Setup

a motherboard from an old hp pavilion 6330 (its from 1998 its original operating system was windows 98) and a 150GB hard drive (originally had a harddrive that was 4GB but i expanded it, and the ram is more than it was originally, i expanded it to about 300MB or a little more, you get the picture

other things that i have changed to it were the optical drives (it has 2 now don'r know what they are) and there is a card in one of the pci slots with three usb ports (1 on the inside of the computer which i think is intended for wlan adapters) and 2 on the outside

I note that you have posted questions in several threads but in many of those threads you do not give a clear indication of whether or not you found a solution to the problem. TEENpup is based 2.1.4 so you may want to try that. A retro kernel version of Puppy Linux may also work too. I suggest you try the most recent retro kernel version and work your way back from there.

what if i downloaded a more recent kernel source and install it since the drivers for everything in linux is in the kernel and i think updating the kernel will update its support for certain devices

now how do you do so
i have a kernel tarball from kernel.org and i looked inside of it and i didn't find an INSTALL option (there are usually files in there that say install, it the one you execute in a shell prompt to install it) and i don't see it in there all i see is MAKEFILE will this one install it for sure
