Firefox and VLC crash after sometime.
I am using Lucid Puppy 5.2.5. Firefox and VLC crash after sometime. Firstly i installed firefox 4.0 it worked well without any problem, then i installed firefox 9.0.1 and VLC. It still didn't had any problem. But since last two days firefox constantly gets killed without any error message. And further i experienced this problem with VLC too, which was working fine earlier. I thought the upgrade of firefox from version 4.0 to 9.0.1 might have caused the problem. So i moved back to 4.0, but the problem still persited. Recently i installed some unofficial lucid packages from the Ubuntu-lucid-repos. With the packages came the dependencies which were too installed with their respective packages at the time. I think the dependencies packages might be causing the problem. I then updated firefox to version 10.0 thinking that this might sort out the issue. But no luck. I am not too much worried about VLC because i don't think that both are having the same issue. I will come up with something about VLC when i come to know what's up with firefox. Please suggest any solution, it's important. Because i want to remaster my puppy and i don't want it with bugs.

Could it be a hardware issue? How much memory do you have? How much free hard drive space do you have? Is the machine operating in a hot environment; too much CPU load and heat can cause programs to crash. Is the CPU overclocked?

The opera browser probably uses the least resources of any of the major browsers. It does a great job keeping memory and CPU load down. They started out with that idea when desktops were slow and they've focused on mobile since then.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks all.

Be real, be sober.

I am now using chrome and opera, both work so well and consume very less cpu use.
