Few questions before installing Puppy 2.17

I started up Puppy 2.17 using the CD and really liked it.

I guess I have to install it through Puppy Universal Installer right?

Thats fine. But Puppy asks me to select a whole partition...what next?

Will it format that ENTIRE partition? Or just create a file (say pup_save217) there?
Or just copy some files there?

And then what next? After the installtion will it install Grub to MBR? Or will it provide me some other way to boot it up?

I know these are silly questions but I found the installer in 2.17 to be different from earlier versions so I'm bit confused.

Thanks for ur time n help :)

I have not tried to install 2.17, although based on the questions you are asking, 2.16 is at least similar, and I have installed it. (I have only run 2.17.1 as a live CD.) As part of the installation process, you will be asked if you want a "frugal" install or a "normal" install (or words to that effect). A normal install will install using the entire partition, like "normal" Linux.

When it gets to setting up the bootloader, you will be given choices regarding where it will be placed. Although the Universal Installer in 2.16 states that there is some risk to putting GRUB in the MBR, I think the risk is no higher than with other Linux distributions--which means it is very low, and in fact, the preferred place to put it.
