Cannot install Libreoffice - says, "no-pupsave usb low ram and dvd installs unsupported"

Cannot install Libreoffice - says, "no-pupsave usb low ram and dvd installs unsupported"

So how to I modify my 8gb usb stick to have the maximum space and get it installed permanently?

I was clicking the "Get Libreoffice download and instal! [sic] Libreoffice" option in Document.

And what is with the conversion message it gives? So even if I get it to download I have to manually convert it and move it somewhere? How?

Oh, and when I tried to install it via the package manager it told me it was too big at 330MBs, okay why when I have many gigabytes of spare space?

Puppy typically runs entirely from RAM and saves changes when you shutdown which is the pupsave file. It also uses a different type of package management then regular distributions i.e. programs are built into sfs or pet files. Here are the libreoffice files.

One of the ways we like to 'install' apps into Puppy these days is by increasingly making use of AppImages where possible. Think Windows PortableApps; this is the Linux equivalent.....a single, usually statically-compiled binary containing absolutely everything required for the app to run & be fully-functional.

Libre Office has, like so many other projects, now gone 64-bit only. There are AppImages available, usually from the same reliable 'third-party' individual who specifically takes the source code and creates 'run-anywhere' packages for the community. The web-site is endorsed by the LibreOffice team, so is 'official', and can be found here:-

https://libreoffice.soluzioniopen.co....php/stable-2/

Just download; make executable - run

Code:
chmod +x
.....on the AppImage, followed by clicking on it to run it. Couldn't be simpler.....and, unlike some AppImages, which are just re-packed .debs or .rpms which still expect to find a bunch of installed system dependencies, the L.Office AppImages have been done properly, are truly self-contained, and will run anywhere.

Mike.
