Can't use via usb device in puppy 3.01

I have a Compaq Armada 7792DMT model b notebook That I dual boot win98 and Puppy 3.01 seamonkey. The problem is my pcmcia via usb hub won't work. I have a similar problem in windows but all I have to do is disable the usb controller in device manager. I am fairly new to linux and was wondering would
the same configuration be possible in puppy?
