xsane reset default scanner

When I start xsane it searches for scanners and lists five descriptions of the HP 2700 scanner. The first is the default, but does not work. The one that works best is the last on the list. How can I make the last the default?

The last one is:
Quote:
eSCL HP DeskJet 2700 ip=192.168.1.167 [airscan:e0:HP DeskJet 2700 series [4189EF]]
Can I use something like:
Code:
xsane -device xxxxxxxxxx

no but you can use this....find your device first

Code:
scanimage -L
then ....change the guilty string to what yours is

eg

Code:
scanimage --device "pixma:04A9180B_0581C8" --format=jpeg --output-file test.jpeg --progress
ref
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/SANE

remember to rename your home file test.jpeg to something more meaningful and if you are doing multiple scans
rename after each scan.

I use Xsane on a usb with no such device issues

if that worked....use root powers to create a /usr/local/bin/mysan.sh....and make it executable and give it perms

Quote:
#!/bin/bash
scanimage --device "pixma:04A9180B_0581C8" --format=jpeg --output-file test.jpeg --progress

Thank you aus9

Code:
scanimage --device "airscan:e0:HP DeskJet 2700 series" --format=jpeg --output-file test.jpeg --progress
did a scan, as expected.

However, that is not what I was hoping for. Running xsane finds four devices, some of which call for a proprietary plugin which cannot be found. Selecting the forth device opens the gui and does not require the plugin.

I was looking for a way to open the xsane gui, using the device used above, which is one of the four devices listed. I am setting up a Mint computer for a newb, and trying to avoid the need to select the forth device each time.
