Write command in QT

I am trying to use QT to send the data as it is done with Linux when sending data via FIFO. But the "write" command doesn't work. What should i do?? Please help.

I was making a program which could have a user interface and when the user presses a button, it is able to go to start the interprocess communication via FIFO. I also want to take some data from the other process and display it on my window.

I have created a dialog box and working on it.

Any help would be appreciated please.

Another problem with the same program

I wish that a list of values are taken from FIFO and then displayed on the window...
There are many such lists which keep coming from the other process. and i want them displayed in the LCD.

Just to check if something could be done,
I tried to write something in the slot that will be connected with the Clicked() of the start button.
this code needs to be placed in a while loop. But as the loop start running, the whole QT system gets numb and too slow in its response. I dont want such a condition. Another thing that happens is the Cancel button stops working. This is bad coz I want the user to be able to stop the whole process.

How do I make this whole taking data from FIFO and showing to the user in the window independent from the Start button but that it starts with the start button. ??
Should I create some sort of a thread which does this? Please help...
