wma tag reading code

Hi,
Does anyone know of any c++, or c code that can read WMA tag info? I heard that Microsoft has made WMA an open standard so it should be possible. So far I have searched a lot, but it seems that only Windows programs can read WMA tags and all those use the Microsoft supplied (closed souce) dlls
Thanks for any information,
Ed
