Windows Programming question (don't shoot me plz)

I'm writing a program in Visual C++, and I want to make it add a key to the system registry--does anybody know how this can be done? (I already know where I want to add the key--I just need to create it and add it to the registry)

Essentially, I want to give the user an option to run my app at startup, and if they say yes, put an entry in the registry that will call my app whenever Windows starts.

Have you ever seen those those "*.reg" or something files that add keys to the registry when you click on them in the explorer? You can probably do the same thing using the system() function.
