Which web lang. to learn

Hi, so far I've been using basic HTML with a bit of Javascript mixed in. I want to enhance my web server by adding more dynamic content, specifically I would like to tie a few pages into a few databases (I already have a MySQL server running, so I could just use that). I'm already planning on learning CSS to improve formatting and layout (or is there a better way to format and layout my web page?), but I'm not sure what to learn for the database/dynamic portion. I already know some ASP through VB .NET, but as I don't have a Windows partition to use (and don't have the desire to make one), and since I've run into many problems with .NET in Apache, I believe I should learn another web language. Any recommendations?
