In 1971 was programming in Algol (take a look at it is was prior to Pascal and had much more power).

Pascal was pretty cool back in mid-70s. I have a paper copy of the compiler back then (given to me by N. Wirth) one needs to have a Pascal compiler to build it!

C++ is the best language (but of course one needs to be trained to do it correctly). Of course only my personal projects now use my "template library" which was created prior to the STL (even being an idea).
