Which language?

I'm looking for an event driven language to rewrite my last ms vb6 project for linux. It's a small database app with data entry/search/retreival forms and report printing using .mdb (acces) methods and tables.
I'm currently looking at Tkinter/python but good examples are hard to come by.
Is there something else perhaps? Maybe with a RAD GUI like vb?

What's YOUR favourite?

C with GTK+-2.4 ... You can use Glade (http://glade.gnome.org) or you can write it by hand (here's my version of a tutorial: http://gview.sourceforge.net)

Hko, good point. Rooman, I wouldn't really consider C to be a RAD language... perhaps python might be a better fit (never tried it, don't even use perl that much (less than I should)).
