Whats the best cross-platform GUI kit for developing opengl programs?

So I would like to get started in cross-platform programming some opengl software, but am kind of confused on which to chose over so many GUI kits availabe! I would like to do the GUI in ruby, C or Obj C.

I have been looking at QT, which is pretty good, it has all the features I would ever need but the catch is, its not completely opensource, there is opensource version available but it has limits.

wxwidgets is good, and opensource but is it better than QT?

Oh and one more thing! If I were to program the GUI in ruby and then plugin C extensions to deal with the Opengl side of things, will that work?

I currently don't have any experience in GUI programming, so please be kind!

Thanks
Chris

Really, you're answering your own question by noticing the plethora of GUI design kits that are available. Why not give them all a try?

Personally, I like QT Interface Designer.

Qt has been fully open source for quite some time.

Try SDL. It's an open, cross platform DirectX compeditor.

Also KDE's native libs are based on QT and overcome all of the
weaknesses.

Fltk

FLTK has good support and sample code for OpenGL implementations. It is cross-platform, also quite handy sometimes. Uses C/C++, but I guess that language-bindings are possible.
