what is unix or linux internals programming?


hai friends,

can anybody tell what is unix internals or linux internals programming. how to start learning it? online docs? books etc.

Hi,

"Unix progamming" deals with processes, IPC, RCP, Threads, and so on... Have a good look on that tutorial :

It explaines how to use those entities. It's not enough to do kernel hacking, but it's a good starting point !

see if you can get hold of the book "Advanced programming in teh UNIX environment" by W Richard Stevens

its one of the best books i have come across

Linux kernel programming deals with the programming of the operating system which is called systems programming. We can say that we have the following layers in a comp.
1. hardware
2. operating system (kernel layer)
3. application layer
The programming of kernel layer is called as systems programming which is equivalent to linux kernel programming. You can refer for more details in book called Linux kernel Internals.
