I've used emacs for many years. Sure, it isn't an IDE but I can customize it to work as an IDE. And I'll try Magic C++ first then say something about it relative to emacs.
Now Downloading...

Oh, emacs is everything and the kitchensink. People use it and nothing else, or so the legend goes.

I still hold on to jEdit. though lately i've noticed that Java doesn't like screensavers ... on linux the XServer crashes, in Windows it handles them fine.

**shrugs** maybe i'm doing something wrong, but when i'm working on code the screensaver hardly ever comes on, and before i do get up i save my work ... so i don't have problems

Kdevelop, thats all you need man, kdevelop.

1) it's pretty
2) it has really nice code completion
3) Syntax Highlighting
4) Project Starters

When I have to do something in CLI I'll use JED

i use dav, has no highlighting and takes less screen space then nano

(i hate highlights!, they are so confusing!, after all i can find whatever I'm looking for with a simple search)

Hi

I'm still using emacs (since 1994) on several os, not only for programming.
For Java projects I'm using eclipse.
