using or containing too many words; boringly or irritatingly long-winded. verbosely

Hi,

verbose is 'more than normal'.

A good practical example is setting up a ssh session:
ssh to.a.host versus ssh -v to.a.host.
The latter produces a lot more output which can be used for different reasons (debugging is probably the most obvious).
