sybase with perl

How do I insert 2 data into a table using perl with sybase.

Basically I have lets say 2 data's (area code, phone)

212 252-2419

And I need to insert it into a table field under phones
212 252-2419

But with my script I get this
names phones
212 252-2419

Is there maybe a perl function or some kind of a sybase function that will allow me to put entire phone number with spaces into one field
