everybody, i m newbie in shell programming and for cllg level i m working on a project. i have a problem i try a lot

"let be consider a file like smb.conf its only a text file i need to cut dis file in different pieces. and after that i want to edit dis file and after editing i want to place this cutting into same smb.conf file again with same possition.

let me explain more a file smb.conf, i take some line from it that 30-40 after that i edit these line accoding to me and when i complete dis editing then i want to place this line 30-40 at same possition.

i can cut this line but problem arise on the pasting these small files.

i hope you all members of developing get my words.
plz help me i m really confuse on this. plx tell me or give me some clue or script that help me

There are many bash scripting tutorials that can be found on Google, which will help you edit files. If you want to post what you've written already, and give a clear description of what it's doing/not doing, perhaps we can help.
