Sending mail to mailing-lists in perl

Hi

Im creating a perl script that will be sending out mail to mailing-lists, but im not getting it to work. Its no problem getting the script to send mail to regular mail addresses, but it doesnt seem to handle to send mail to mailing lists. Im using the Net::SMTP perl module.

Does anyone know how to send mail from a perl script to a mailing list (and not just regular mail addresses) ?

By mailing list, I assume you mean simply 'multiple recipients', or are you referring to mailing-lists as the more formal organization where mail sent to a central server is distributed to all subscribers? In the latter case, I can't imagine what is different from any other e-mail, except that the mailing list server may be discriminating against mail sent from other than recognized e-mail clients.

What are you trying now? What happens/doesn't happen? I think you have to call the SMTP recipient() method iteratively, once for each recipient.

I was thinking about a mailing list like everybody@emai.com so when you send mail to it everyone on that list gets it.
We did find out that it actually was a relay problem, with an external mail server not operated by us and since we couldnt change the configuration on that one we sent it to a normal user account which redirected the mail to the mailing list, that worked when we tried it out.. although its kind of a hack i dont think we would bother the people operating that mail server just to be able to send mail to mailing lists from servers.
