Scripting chntpw for registry editing
Hi,
I'm not really sure where to post this question, I'm very new to linux and need a bit of guidance.
I'm an administrator on a windows network and I have had to use knoppix now and again but nothing too complicated. I have now encountered a problem where I will have to use it on a more regular basis and I wanted to write scripts or a program to automate the tasks.
My problem is that I have to use chntpw to edit registry hives on workstations which have become corrupt. This can be done manually but there are quite a few keys which need to be changed, which is time consuming by itself, never mind the fact that I usually end up having to read down a list as I can't normally remember their locations.
Is it possible to create a script that will do this automatically?
In windows this could be thrown together in a matter of minutes using something like autoit but as I'm not up to speed with how things are done in linux I have no idea how to go about this.
Is python the way to go?
Thanks in advance
