a hard link in /usr/bin.
well, why not. until you want/need to install gnome-terminal.
i consider this "the sledgehammer method".

things that would be better imo:
  • edit the script
  • have a look whaat the script actually calls for - maybe it calls for x-terminal-emulator, and that can be changed with 'update-alternatives'
  • set xterm up to be more usable (via ~/.Xdefaults or ~/.Xresources)
