resolution problem in html file

dear friends,
first take a look at the webpage bose.res.in/~rudra
the background is a picture of definite width, and when i did it i had a guven resolution in mind for which the white part was in middle. but given that its a single picture, whenever i see(and hopefully others) it with different resolution, obviously the background will not be what i was expecting. plz check with different resolution to see what i am meanning.

how can i fix the problem?

You have a fixed-width background image, and then a table which fills the available window. Thus, there is only one window size that will center things on the background. I would start with a solid color background and then insert a (centered) image which just has the desired gradient.

The best way to do this is to set the actual page background to the low colour of the gradient. Then to put the image on the background of a div, which is centered. That way it will always be in the center of your page.
