how hard would it be to write a perl script to do the following:
(1)read a mailbox and parse subject lines for a keyword and number
(2)upon finding a keyword match, lookup the email address of the sender and compare that a record exists to match the number in the subject line for the email address of the sender
(3) if a match is found for this number/sender email combination,
issue a sql statement to a mysql db to update a record given a set of conditions similar to above
ok, now that ive started perusing a few perl tutorials, i dont think it will be that bad. im comfortable with php & java but ive never had the need till now to do more than recognize perl scripts when i see them. thanks for the help
