Qt licencing for a GPL win program?

Hi
After working with Qt for quite a while and growing quite fond of it, I thought I mite try to port an app to windows - Trolltech say that Qt allows you to make one program then compile it on different OS' without problems.... if you're willing to pay for a license.
Why do we need to pay for licenses to create a GPL program with a windows port?
How is it any different to having it on a linux pc? The source will be available either way, so I don't see whats wrong.

Enough of the ramble, what I was wondering was if there are any other options for compiling the program on win. Any other way than buying a license? (legally, of course).
I read vaguely about a GPL windows port of Qt. Is there anywhere I can find more information about that?

Thanks.
Paul.

The Windows version of Qt isn't available under the same conditions as the Linux/X11 version, unfortunately.

If you are able to port QT to Windows using Linux sources, I don't see a reason why you couldn't use it to port your program. The thing is that the versions are probably very different.

You can read about QT Windows port here: http://www.trolltech.com/products/qt/windows.html

When thinking about alternatives, you can try wxWidgets (http://www.wxwidgets.org/).
