python GUI editor/complier?


i m a newbie who is learning python. but i found it's really diffcult for me to learn it under text mode. is there any GUI one something like Jcreater for me to work with? can you recommand one for me? thank you very much.

glade! Just use glade and python's libglade module and you can create nice GTK GUIs in Python in no time

i m confused.... do u mean i can use this one to create my own GUI python complier?? sorry for the stupid question, i m newbie. thanks.

How does one compile a GUI? You build a GUI, and use it in your program. With Glade, the whole "building the GUI" part is entirely separate from the "coding the program logic" part, as it should be for the most part.

Dear 286, python is an interpreted language, and so it does not need a compiler. I would have suggested emacs, but since you're a new to *nix, you would have found it difficult. Try kwrite, I think it has got python support.

If Python is new for you I suggest learn python under text mode as much as you can. Then you can use one of the many GUIs available to work with Python. One of them is Tkinter that comes with Python. The others which you can download are: Pythonwin, wxPython, PyGTK, PyQt, etc,etc.
To know more about them enter the name in an engine search as goglee.

Try Tkinter first. If you don't like it try PyQT, they say that the code made with PyQt works in both MS Windows and Unix/linux and even in Mac
