programming in linux environment using c++


hello there, need your help...i'm creating a program that will control a dvd-rw(dual layer, double layer) using c++ in linux platform...my problem is, idfk where to, what to and how to start my self study...im new in both linux and c++, im quite familiar with linux (at least 30-40%)...i'll be using SCSI standards in creating these multi-media commands...where do you think should i start?? coz it's like im a lost 2 year old kid in a jungle having a complete set of devices and materials but idfk how to use it..help...

One good book is "Beginning Linux Programming" from Wrox.

idfk -> i dont f**king know...lol

uhmm...dude, what about SCSI standard multi-media commands, you know where to get the most basic all-for-noob tutorials??? thanks...

Hi. Just thought I'd mention - if you're after a really neat little IDE for your coding, have a look at Geany ( http://geany.uvena.de/ ). I use it all the time.
It has a beautifully simple and clean design and appearance and can be customised easily (including nice touches like allowing you to have large buttons on the toolbar). It also has very few dependencies. Well worth a look. Another one is OpenLDev (http://www.openldev.org). Good luck with the coding!

I'd say first things first: Get a good grip on C++. As a personal advice: stay away from Herbert Schildt. I'd recommend you fetch Accelerated C++.
