Problem in using GDB


Iam getting an error No symbol table is loaded. Use the "file" command.when I try to set a breakpoint using break .Can anyone help me how to handle this error

If "linenum" is your own program, recompile it with debug enabled:

EXAMPLE:
gcc -g -Wall -o linenum linenum.c
Otherwise, if you don't have program source, you're pretty much S.O.L.

You generally need to compile and link with "-g" in order to take advantage of source-level debugging.
