ProgrammingThis forum is for all programming questions.
The question does not have to be directly related to Linux and any language is fair game.

basically this forum cannot be used for private contacts, but obviously if you wish you can try to contact anyone.
On the other hand why do you want a private contact, why do you want to exclude the other members? Probably they could help you too.

Actually, i will be happy for any C programmer to contact me; i really dont need anyone' pvt contact.
I have a small (literally less than 100lines) program in C that i need to be modified and i cannot do it on my own.
Maybe i will post it in the Programming forum and ask for help, but i know that members will be happier to spend twice the time typing a long explanation on how to do it than just doing it (and it's fair enough) hence my assumption that perhaps, privately, it could be arranged differetnly.
Posting jobs for hire is not allowed in the LQ forums, but you can certainly ask for help with your program.

Typing an explanation useful to others now and into the future is exactly what this forum is all about!
You obviously understand enough to know what the required modification is and that it is beyond you own capability, so I would suggest rather than posting whole cloth code, write a brief description of how the program currently work and how you would like it to work instead, then post the minimal section of code which you think will need to be modified and be ready to provide answers when asked for additional information and to implement suggested changes... see where it goes from there.
Please also review the Site FAQ for guidance in asking well formed questions. Especially visit the link from that page, How to Ask Questions the Smart Way for discussion of things to consider when asking others for help.

Good luck!
Thank you again. This actually was more helpful.
Now, should I start a new thread? or edit the original one? i.e. cut out all the garbage that I included and stripping down the full code to the part where I think the problem is

No, do not start a new thread. I think that is good enough. You can continue [to use] it. And please do not edit old posts, from my side it is completely acceptable. Just take this info into account in the following discussion.
(By now, you would have had it fixed, if you quoted it in your very first post. (Also, you can attach it to your post as file.))
Hi there,
sorry my i do not understand what you are trying to tell me. I would have had fixed what? attach... the program as a file?
edit: I got the msg. I have marked this thread as solved and continuing in the other thread also started by me on the same topic. Thank you and apologies for breaking so many rules.
