Porting Win32 API && PIC programing

Ok i have two questions:

1.- Anyone know some good way to port a W32 program (using MingW32 and API) to Linux? I need to use parallel port functions (outport(..) && inport(...)) and besides that just some GUI interface which i currently have done in W32 API, i suppose it's not too hard to port right?

2.- And for a project i have pending, i have to do some PIC programming, and i could make a program to start with that, but i dont really want to spend a few hundred hours working on a program, when there are probably millions out there. I'm going to use "El Cheapo", and going to WINE his PICbasic. If anyone knows a better way to get around to this please tell me. I havent done any PIC programming, but am very interested and really want to get around to using it.

Thanks.

Hi bobbens,
You can build a PIC programmer from the following website if you are going to be using Linux:

I was planning on working with the http://patearl.net/projects/pic/ , since i've got a liking for PIC16F84A's. Working on some other projects right now, but when i get time i'm gonna get on this one, since it has support for the 16F84a. while the page you have posted states that it is untested, and i'd like to get it working "out of the box". Thanks for the post though, i thought nobody was gonna reply :P.
