PHP and Kodak jpgs

I've been writing a php script to resize photos using the GD library that comes with FC3. My program works for all jpgs except the ones from Kodak Cameras! Cant figure it out, google isnt helping much either. When the file gets resized, the script stops. Just plain stops. I checked that the jpgs start with ddf8 and end with ddf9. Can somebody tell me whats going on? Anybody else have this problem?

Just a stab in the dark, but maybe Kodak adds something in the
EXIF info that GD can't handle ... what happens if you save the
pics as something different (e.g TIFF) from e.g. Gimp, convert them
back to JPG and then try to manipulate them from the script?
