OpenCL on linux
Hi,
I've seen a lot of posts about OpenCL and how the whole parallel computing thing is going to make big differences; and the benefits of having an open, hardware agnostic API for this. Who's responsibility is it to implement OpenCL on linux and were does this implementation fit into linux's architecture? http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/16362/ |
Hi -
OpenCL is still pretty much "Coming Attractions"; one of the current leaders in this space is CUDA. And, just like CUDA certainly has good Linux support today, I'm certain OpenCL will have equally good support soon: http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_get.html Here are a couple of additional links that might be of interest: http://www.khronos.org/registry/cl/ http://www.ddj.com/linux-open-source/212300363 http://www.linuxinsider.com/story/it...ent/65436.html http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3488 http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/12/09/039254 http://www.maximumpc.com/article/new...with_opencl_10 You might also want to look here: http://www.gpgpu.org/ |
AMD has come up with a linux SDK for OpenCL. This is released as part of the existing ATI's Streaming SDK.
