Does anybody know if there is an older version of the qt toolkit avaliable for OSX 10.3? The current one supports 10.4, which I don't have...
Also, I'm wondering, when designing programs with qt, does the end-user need qt installed on their system? With desktop environments, like KDE, I know you need the KDE base system installed to run the apps, but is qt independent of that? I'd like to develop programs that will run fairly easily on linux, windows and mac (and more, if possible...)
I'm new to development, so if these are dumb questions please bear with me...
As far as I am aware qt is backwardly compatible, that would mean that the latest version will run on 10.4 and earlier versions such as 10.3. However, not having used it on a mac I can't confirm that.
Qt will run on any system for which it is compiled, you can either bundle the essential qt runtime libraries or compile them into your source code. Which means that you may need to add some extra libraries with your code so that the end user with no qt installed can run them.

Sorry, I think it isn't. Qt 3 applications won't run with Qt 4 libs, and Qt 4.2.2 applications arent guaranteed to work with Qt 4.3.0 libs (although they will recompile just fine). The OP needs to say which version exactly he needs.
The issue is that I don't have a compiler for osx ppc. I have the three installation discs for panther, but don't have the fourth which contains xcode. Eclipse requires a version of java which only works with 10.4, and I don't want to give my address to Apple to download xcode from the website.
The website says that the binary of qt only runs on 10.4 and higher, is there danger in installing it on 10.3?
