I kind of need a non buffered keyboard input as well. I am coding in unix however i do not have the library <conio.h> where i can use getch(). How do i go about doing it then?

biosx mentioned the use of fork() but aint fork gonna create an identical child process? a function is not a process correct? How then do i go about creating this fork? Is there any sample code or tutorial?

It could probably work to fork() a process that does nothing else but scanning for keys being hit, and when that happens signal the other process. IMHO it's not a good idea.
