New to Linux. Learn bash or C first?

Hello. I am fairly new to Linux and want to learn it along with begin some simple programming in it. I know the very basic Linux commands like ls-a, cd, etc. I want to learn some simple programming in Linux. Right to the point. Is it better to learn Bash and programming in it or C first? I know a wee bit of C and a wee bit of Bash. Or should I just kindsa learn em both here and there?

thanks.
Excited about Unix/Linux :)

well, it all depends what you want to program. everyone benefits from a foundation knowledge of bash programming, regex's and such like. But bash aint much use for a full blown app, which is where c qould be better. check the link in my sig for books abuot both.

I should get on acid's case for double posting... :D

I think you should work on learning C. There is just so much more to learn. You will pick up on bash as you use Linux more.
