New distro, help needed

Yarrow Linux, a new distribution, needs coders to write the packaging system.

Yarrow is: A user-friendly Linux. Not like other user-friendly's, this distro wants to teach you the beauty of Linux. Some things have to be done from CLI, some things from GUI.

yarrow.sunsite.dk is the home page (I cant link yet.). If you can help, post here, on the forums, or AIM screen name linuxchris3. Feel free to post questions here too.

What is your project?

More about Yarrow:
Yarrow is distribution based on LFS. Its packaging system will be binary, and dependancy-searching. Since its in its early stages you can vote on the packages that will be used on the forums (yarrow.sunsite.dk/forums). Yarrow is going to be user-friendly, but not bloated. It will teach you about Linux, through its documentation.

okay, I think that is a general description about any package management project, I mean what is new?
are you going to do the Redhat pkg-like system
I mean what you ment by teching people about linux by better idea than the mandrake!?

Note: My project is based on new kernel that to support new FS philosophy of mine and a pkg-mngment system and that is in the first stage of implementation because I do that in my rest time.

about we may corporate that you can do a pkg-mng system that looks like gentoo (source based) and add the support for binary pkgs I think that is the best you can do about the initial stage project and then we will talk about the overall system optimization if we corporate at the first place then it initially worked!.

Anyway, I always consider the next 10 years OS wars will be all about stability and then performance and then security and the strictly depend on the compiler and the coder experience about that specific compiler (gcc or intel .. ) so my new project will be essentially based on the new FS that I believe it will over perform the ext3 and even the XFS that could proof. it is the fastest at least now(despite its bad fault tolerance)!.

If you think so, we may talk more practically and who knows it may exposed to the light one day!

When will Stookey Linux and Travers Linux be coming out?

(sorry, I couldn't resist)

Seriously, though--I don't mean to discourage you, but this idea is very, very generic. Especially the package system--decent package management, while easy to implement, is a pain to design.

Weber,
I dont blame you because people in your situation always act like this Actually I am working in the semiconductor field and linux has nothing to do with what I am doing now I am just having fun with Filesystem design and the linux development so that means nothing to me,
and actually I dont care if I am going to waste my rest (wasted already time ) in doing something for linux or doing some thing else for your ...,
it doesnt matter okay!
try to consider the forum rules before your post (if you really mind !)

By the way the system that you mentioned is designated entirely just like this (the whole monolithic kernel and all of its initial versions) so try to learn from hitory and how it become present!!.

I think he's referring to our rule of posting constructively as it appears to me they are having a serious discussion in which your post doesn't do anything for them in answering questions, etc. And if your going to post what you did, you should post more facts based upon what you presented in why it would be a pain, etc. You clearly don't know these members and what their capabilities are, so I wouldn't judge them for their ideas.

So if you have nothing to contribute, don't post and move on to the next thread.

If you don't agree with me on this decision, you email me privately.

Regards.
