Need to delete a column

I need to delete a column in one of my tables due to unnecessary redundancy, but I keep getting the following error;

mysql> alter table colo_tbl drop column access_procedure_id;
ERROR 1025 (HY000): Error on rename of './colo_list_2/#sql-17b0_5' to './colo_list_2/colo_tbl' (errno: 150)

The column has a foreign key with no constraint.
any advice?
Thanks in advance
