Go with the gcc suite of compilers. Is there really anything better? :p ;)

thanks, sewer_monkey.
there are many other "better" compilers, such as absoft fortran compilers and pgi c compilers, as I was told. it is really hard to say which is better unless I can try for a while. the question is I have to make the decision soon and the license costs over $1000! here is a benchmark table: www.polyhedron.com but I need advices from programmers, especially those having experience on absoft and pgi compilers. |
Gcc is standard for Linux. You know that everyone has it, so there's no problem with compiler incompabilities when moving your project to another machine...
