Need MAME Cabinet Front End Help

Hey. I have been looking for, and now think that i am going to have to make or pay for someone to make me a frontend for linux to run mame and other apps. i only want it to be able to do a couple things. play mame and other emulators, play cd's, and maybe play dvd's. for now i would just be happy with the mame and other emulator idea.

KnoppiXMAME is out, based on debian linux, it is just a bootable cd that has linux on it and boots into mame, it does not even need a hard drive. People have also made "front end" programs that boot up mame or even have a selection screen for mame and all of your other emulators that you can scroll through in linux through their gui and select and run one of them.

I want to do something like that, but just have linux running in the background, with nothing else there... no mozill, no ftp, no open office, no start menu... no nothing.

I know I could also do this in DOS, and since I already know dos could probably do it easier, but linux seems to be the better way to go.

I just want to boot up the computer and see a screen that has a gui to select if i want to play a game, watch a dvd or play cd. then choose one, and have it work, and a way to exit back to the main screen.

Any suggestions?
