I am trying to automate burning my backups on multiple DVDs, my scenario is I have my backups on server A, backups are incremental just Tuesday is full backup, Tuesday backup are about 4 DVDs, other days I need just 1 DVD, on server A I have a script which divide the backup into multiple DVDs if the size is greater than X GB, the script running on server A will send a burn command over ssh to server B which have 2 DVD drives to burn first two DVDs, then I will change the burned ones and replace them with blank dvds, i am using growisofs to burn dvds,
i.e, on server A i have directory include files file_1, file_2, file_3 etc.
i need to write scrip to burn these files as first one on first dvd, second on second dvd, then wait until i replace the dvds

what is the size ?? since I do Have problems when burning files greater that 4G , I split to 1024MB(as in dvdvideo`s) then create the iso to be burned.

which is the language you prefer to write the script ?

perl python ruby or shell

if not using shell code , specify the version of your distro
