Mount Point Verification

Hey Guys

I have written a script that mounts a CD drive i.e.

Code:

system("mount /dev/cd0 /mnt");

as this is a legacy ANSI SCO Unix system, I need a way of checking whether it has mounted successfully and if not to stop the script.

Could someone advise if they can think of a way of doing this?
I have searched all corners of the internet and cannot find anything that fits what I want.
